Motherhood for me began on May 18th, 2018, and so far it has been the most, joyful, and humbling experience of my life. Often times we have this idea of what being a mother may be like, and we read books thinking it can prepare you for this new journey, but in reality no one can ever prepare you for the lifelong experience. My experience as a mother has taught me patience, sacrifices, the act of being self- less, and to be present. Not only do I learn new things about my daughter everyday, but I’ve learned more about me through her, and also learned what my strengths and weaknesses are.
These daily experiences have highlighted my imperfections and allowed me to accept them, and then most importantly work with them. My proudest moment was when I gave birth to my daughter, and every day she reminds me of how blessed I am to have entered this thing called motherhood. My daughter teaches me to focus on the things that truly matter, like family, and to pay attention to each moment, because they go by so quickly. This journey is a roller coaster ride of emotions, one where you learn on the go, and I am still learning , but I know that I was made for this.
My daughter has changed by life for the better, and motivates me every day to become the best version of myself and to better myself so that I can set a great example for her. Becoming a mother is a journey you’re never prepared for, but it’s something as women that we are made for and there is no right or wrong way to do this thing called motherhood. Motherhood did not change me, it made me. Motherhood paved the way and made me who I am. I am blessed to have entered this lifelong journey and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
